Chosen

Ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

1 Peter 2:9

Those who accept God’s salvation have special standing. If this applies to you, that makes you part of the chosen generation. You are part of a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a peculiar people.

As a chosen person, what does that mean ?

Choice

God had a choice. He could choose you, or He could not choose you. Guess what? He chose you!

Kittel (4:181) tells us that this word “has the sense of “choice” for things of the best quality.”

I’m telling you that you are the finest quality. God chose you because you are the best there is.

Does this make you better than the others God has chosen? No. All those who are in God’s family are the best. We are equals. No one is better than another. We are all the best!

You are the highest quality available. You are the best. Start acting like it. Start living like it!

Inclusion

In the past, God dealt with Israel. As Israel rejected Christ, the Gospel came to all humanity, including the Jews and the gentiles.

When God chose you, He put you into the elite group of people who have an exclusive relationship with Him.

The Temple

God has made His people His temple. Jesus Christ serves as the cornerstone of that temple, and you and I represent the priesthood.
