Operation of God

Whenever you buy a piece of equipment such as an automobile, appliance, or phone, you should receive an operator’s manual with it. By learning how your device operates, you can optimize its use. It may last longer. You might discover features that can improve your life or work. If you never read the operation manual for a piece of machinery, you could get hurt because you don’t understand how it works. When you understand the Operation of God, you can enjoy more benefits, avoid chastisement, and have an enduring, positive relationship.

In a way, God works like a machine. You need to know how He works before He goes to work for you. If you refuse to learn about God and His operation, God will most likely work against you, rather than for you.

If you’ve ever seen a business such as a factory or store that functioned well, you might say that they have a “good operation.” They understand their mission and they have policies and procedures in place that help them operate efficiently.

God runs this universe with precision. He has physical, spiritual, and moral laws in place that ensure that everything works effectively. You might say that He has a “good operation.”

God has built into every one of us a conscience and the ability to recognize His existence. Sadly, in our natural, sinful state, we want to run our lives and our world our way, willfully ignoring and denying God and His way. Failure to acknowledge God’s operation ultimately causes us much damage.

For Israel, in the Old Testament, such willful ignorance of God had severe consequences. Here’s the word of God spoken through Prophet Isaiah:

My people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge:

Isaiah 5:13

The people didn’t lack knowledge because it wasn’t available to them. They were aware of God and His Word. The people didn’t have knowledge because they didn’t want it.

Apostle Paul, in his Epistle to the Romans, expounds on this:

Even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Romans 1:28

Did you hear that? “They did not like to retain God in their knowledge.” They knew about God, they knew what God offers and what God wants from them, but they deliberately ignored the way He operates.

The same goes for the wicked people who have overthrown the USA. They “have no knowledge” because they don’t want it. They pretend God doesn’t rule the world. They live as though God had no jurisdiction over them. They create an alternate system that labels “good” as “evil” and “evil” as “good.”

You may know people like this. They “choose” to live free of God and His authority. They know God exists, but they choose to ignore Him. Like a child having a tantrum, they cover their ears and scream so they cannot hear God’s voice. All the while, they damn themselves and their nation.

Make no mistake: People with “no knowledge” endanger themselves and those around them. According to Romans Chapter One, they do “things which are not convenient.”

Things that are “not convenient” include “unnatural” things, “improper” things, “inappropriate” things, “destructive” things, and “harmful” things.

Notice that God allows willful ignorance. That’s how God operates. God delivers people to a reprobate mind who dislike keeping Him in their knowledge. That too is the way God works.

Here’s a specific list, found in Romans Chapter One that helps explain how people behave when they “do not like to retain God in their knowledge” and, therefore have a reprobate mind. In other words, these are the signs of a reprobate mind.

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Romans 1:29-32

Did you notice that? Paul reiterates that they choose to reject the knowledge of God (Rom 1:28). Still, they know that God’s judgment makes them worthy of death. They do what they do. God does what God does. It’s the way He operates.

What about you? If a conflict exists between what you know and what you do, you lay a destructive foundation for your life. God may deliver you to a reprobate mind.

Apostle Paul puts it this way: They have their conscience “seared with a hot iron” (Titus 4:2).

Everyone has a choice whether to know God. When they deliberately ignore God, they suppress their knowledge of Him. They don’t want to think about the way God operates.

Such a lack of knowledge caused Israel to embrace wickedness and reject God. Even worse, they were ignorant. I want to return to the Book of Isaiah and back up one verse. Here’s what God says in Chapter Five, Verse 12:

They regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

Isaiah 5:12

Willful ignorance and a defiance of the Operation of God led Israel to open shame as their conquerors humiliated them and carried them away into bondage.

This is how God operates.

There is a time when God will stop trying to bring you to Him. This is part of…

The Operation of God.

It’s how God works.

Back in the Old Testament, in the days before the flood destroyed the world, God grew weary of the wickedness of humanity, God made this statement:

My spirit shall not always strive with man

Genesis 6:3

There’s a point when God will stop trying to persuade you. There’s a point when God will stop trying to persuade your nation. When that time comes, He will let go of you and allow you to live your life “without knowledge.”

One day, you may realize your error, when it’s too late.

Jesus talked about the people of Noah’s day: He said they

Knew not until the flood came, and took them all away;

Matthew 24:39

God expected them to know, yet they didn’t. This was willful ignorance of God and His operation.

Now, you might say that the people never saw rain before. How could they know God was going to destroy them?

I’ll answer that question with Second Peter Chapter Two, Verse Five:

[God] spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

2 Peter 2:5

See that? Noah preached righteousness to them. The world was conscious of God. The people had no knowledge because that’s how they wanted to live. Unfortunately, they refused to consider the Operation of God. They all perished in God’s judgment.

There’s something else about the way God operates. He expects a certain standard of behavior for everyone.

I’m telling you that the Operation of God is…

God may have patience with you for a while, but the time will come when God comes down to see how you live. He comes to see how your nation operates. He has definite expectations.

This happened to the people of Israel.

The Bible tells us, in Isaiah Chapter Five, Verse Seven, God

Looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Isaiah 5:7

Your decision to ignore God doesn’t absolve you of responsibility. God has fundamental expectations from His creation.

God’s operation is expectant.

One day, He will assess your lifestyle. He will evaluate your values. He’ll look to see if you’re treating other people fairly. He’ll check on the things you do with your body. Unless you repent, God will wipe you out, just as He did to Israel.

God operates this way with every person and every nation.

When God looks at America, He expects to see justice. He expects to see institutional, systemic morality. Sadly, God finds much of what He found in Israel. Injustice. Immorality. Perversion. Corruption. Violence. Oppression. The shedding of the innocent blood of children. Lawlessness.

Despite their awareness of God, wicked people reject Him, they declare themselves free of Him. That might sound good, but such people fail to consider the way God operates.

God expects to see better things from us individually and as a nation.

You also need to know the Operation of God is…

God will punish those who choose to live without knowledge of Him and fail to consider His operation.

Here’s how God explains it, still in Isaiah Chapter Five:

Hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their [the wicked people’s] glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Isaiah 5:14

Look at the Uber-wealthy corporations. Look at the Uber-wealthy men and women that run them. Check out the politicians and the bureaucrats who sell out their nation and their people. They sell their power. These people might look glorious now. In fact, they might look successful. Many of us see them as invincible. You might even envy some of them. They seem to live a life of power and pleasure with no sign of God’s judgment upon them. It’s coming.

God judges people. God judges nations. That’s how God operates.

David affirms this in the twenty-eighth Psalm as he prays for Divine vengeance against the wicked. He asks the following of God:

Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.

Psalm 28:4

Then, in the following verse, we discover that David knows the answer to his own prayer:

They [the wicked] regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he [God] shall destroy them, and not build them up.

Psalm 28:5

The wicked seem to dominate us right now, but things will change. It’s inevitable. It’s the Operation of God.

I hope you now understand that people who choose to ignore God and his works meet a terrible fate. However, the Bible teaches us much more about the Operation of God.

For instance, the Operation of God is…

Those of us who have accepted God’s salvation have faith in the Operation of God.

Here’s what Apostle Paul says in Colossians Chapter Two:

[You are] Buried with him [Jesus] in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him [Jesus] from the dead.

Colossians 2:12

God will raise us up the same way he raised up Jesus. When you come to Him by faith, you receive supernatural rewards.

When we understand how God works, when we have knowledge of it, fantastic things happen. God responds to our faith by raising us from the dead! He gives us eternal life with Him in Heaven. He gives us blessings, guidance, and comfort in this life.

God rewards faith: That’s how He operates.

The Operation of God is…

God operates with power.

Apostle Paul prays for the Ephesians:

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

Ephesians 1:17

Did you hear that word, “knowledge” again? When you have knowledge, everything changes.

Paul gets more specific in the following verses. He mentions some things that he wants us to know.

That ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Ephesians 1:18

In the next verse, Ephesians Chapter One, Verse 19, we learn more about the powerful Operation of God:

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Ephesians 1:19

There, the underlying word for “working” is the same word rendered as “operation” in Colossians 2:12.

God operates with power. Yes. But God uses His power in a…

God’s power accomplishes things. It’s intentional, not random. God never simply shows off. He doesn’t abuse His power. He uses it to work in your life and mine. He uses His power to govern what happens in the world.

God used His power to raise Christ from the dead. And, as I mentioned previously, He uses His power to raise us from the dead when we have Him in our knowledge and we place our faith in Him.

Besides being purposeful, God’s operation is…

God has power. He uses it for His purpose. When He does, He accomplishes that purpose.

Apostle Paul says that God made Him a minister…

According to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

Ephesians 3:7

God has mighty power. He uses it to accomplish His purpose. But here, we see that God’s power is an “effectual working.”

When God operates, He is effective. He gets results.

God works in the collective “Body of Christ” with the same effectual power that He uses to work in us and through us individually:

According to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Ephesians 4:16

Regardless of whether you consider the local assembly, or the so-called “Universal Church,” God makes us fit together. Not only that, every believer has something to contribute. God built the “Body of Christ” for movement. It has joints. When we all assume our appointed role, God works through us to accomplish great things.

I want to read from Philippians Chapter Three to let you know that the Operation of God is…

When God operates, He changes things. When we gain a saving knowledge of God, we live a…

A transformed life on earth.

Our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Philippians 3:20

That word “conversation” refers to our “manner of life.” When we have knowledge, God transforms us. We don’t live after the flesh and according to the operation of the world.

Besides the transformation of our present life, God’s operation leads to a…

Transformed, everlasting body.

Paul continues in Philippians Chapter Three, speaking of Jesus,

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Philippians 3:20

I also want you to know that God’s operation is…

Jesus tells us not to rely on our own power…

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:

John 6:63

If we ever accomplish anything in this life, we must allow God to operate through us.

Apostle Paul spoke of his mission to spread the knowledge of Jesus Christ’s salvation…

Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Colossians 1:28

Talk about a tough job. How could a man – flesh and blood – present anybody “perfect in Jesus”?

Fortunately, in the following verse, Apostle Paul explains how he can do this:

Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Colossians 1:29

That word, “working” comes from the same underlying word as “operation.” God empowers us to minister to others, preparing others for death, judgment, and the life to come.

God’s operation is also…

In Second Thessalonians Chapter Two, Verse 11, the Bible renders the underlying word for “operation,” as “strong.” Here’s what that verse says:

For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2 Thessalonians 2:11

Remember how I spoke of knowledge and how people can choose to ignore God? As they live according to their own way, they fail to consider God’s nature and how He operates.

I also spoke of how God will turn you over to a reprobate mind if you refuse to acknowledge Him.

As God operates, as we approach the Day of Christ, God is sending delusion upon “them that perish.” That’s His operation. That is what He is doing. Why?

Because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2 Thessalonians 2:10

At one time, these people could have accepted God’s salvation. Now, it’s too late. They rejected the knowledge of God. They refused to regard the Operation of God. Now, they cannot accept the truth.

This is the way God operates.

Notice the consequences of the delusion God sends upon humanity:

That they should believe a lie:

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

Do you not believe God’s Word? Look around you. Check out the “news” headlines. People everywhere behave as though they’re insane. Things going on in our country make little sense, yet people everywhere accept the lies coming out of Washington, D.C., Big Tech, and the anti human news corporations.

People believe the lies. They refused to believe the truth. They chose sin, the flesh, and the world rather than God. Now God has bound them in delusion. Damnation is their eternal destiny.

Finally, I need to tell you that the Operation of God is…

Satan can imitate it.

Staying in Second Thessalonians Chapter Two, we see that Satan also has an operation.

Apostle Paul speaks of …

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders…

2 Thessalonians 2:9

Satan has supernatural power. Unlike God, Satan uses his power for harm, not for good. Jesus reveals Satan’s mission in John Chapter Ten:

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

Satan can imitate God. Like God, Satan has potent power. He has a purpose. His operation has the same qualities as the Operation of God, but to a destructive end.

Now, I want you to…

To God’s message.

You don’t have to suffer the fate of the wicked. Instead, acknowledge the work of the Lord. Consider the operation of His hands. Have faith in the Operation of God. Receive salvation through Jesus Christ today.

Let God transform you. Allow Him to use you to accomplish His purpose.

Finally, beware of Satan’s imitations. He has substantial power. Don’t let him deceive you. Walk circumspectly, not as fools (Ephesians 5:5).

Israel went into captivity because they had no knowledge. If you want to be free, know Him. Understand and accept the Operation of God.
