We’ve had a tough year, haven’t we? We’ve dealt with the virus situation, political turmoil, and social unrest. The tumult and tyranny that threaten us seem unprecedented.
For most of us, life has permanently changed. I think now is a good time to reboot and get a fresh start.

I’m asking you,
Do you want a fresh start?
I’m ready to set my life on a course for success even as we navigate uncertain terrain. I’m ready to learn from my mistakes, shake off quarantine, and move on with life.
You might have a complicated situation. Your circumstances might have little to do with the pandemic. Perhaps you’ve made poor choices and foolish decisions that have derailed your life.
Regardless of your situation, I want you to know that you can have a fresh start. You can have it right now. I can have one too.
Will you join me?
You might ask me,
Where do I start?
When I pay attention to the goings on in the world, I wonder how so many people have little or no experience with God.
Government education and academia seem to discredit God, faith, and the Bible. Add to that the deceptive ways that movies and television portray “religion” and “religious” people.
I think a time existed when most Americans were familiar with the Bible and its teachings. I guess that people also had a basic understanding of right and wrong. I believe that things have changed.
If you know little about God, Jesus, and the Bible, that’s OK. You can still have a new beginning.
In fact, isn’t “the beginning” a fantastic place to start?
The beginning
Your foundation matters. Jesus tells of a man who took shortcuts (Matthew 7:26). He built a house in record time. I bet it looked very nice. His friends and family members probably admired it.
Sadly, the house had an inadequate foundation. It collapsed when a storm came. Building a life is like building a house.
How about attempting to build your life on a solid foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11)? If you do things the right way, you can avoid the mistakes of your past. You can withstand the storms of life.
I want you to stop listening to the voices that have held you back and led you astray (Proverbs 19:27).
With that said, let’s start at the beginning. Here’s what the Bible says:
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10
I want to talk to you about
The fear of the Lord,
because it’s where the Bible says you must start.
You’re normal if you think this verse (Proverbs 9:10) says that you should be afraid of God. But, if that’s all, you’re missing the point.
Yes, you should be afraid of God. God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29). You face God’s wrath in your natural, sinful state (John 3:36).
Fearing God also means that you acknowledge His power (Psalm 33:8). Certainly, God can destroy people and things, but He can also create things and save people.
When you fear God, you feel accountable to a higher power. You understand that you have a duty to do what’s right.
You recognize the penalty for disobeying God and the rewards of obedience.
If you want to build a good life, you must begin with a proper attitude towards God. Life goes well when you and God are on the same side.
If you have a moment, please continue by reading about the knowledge of the holy.
