A Harmony of the Olivet Discourse

Jesus’ Prophecy Regarding the End Times

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts: and one of his disciples saith unto him; See, what manner of stones and what buildings are here. (Matthew 24:1, Mark 23:1, Luke 21:5)

And Jesus, answering, said unto them: See ye not all these great buildings? Verily I say unto you, th days will come, in the which there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down. (Matthew 24:2, Mark 13:2, Luke 21:6)

And, as he sat upon the mount of Olives, over against the temple, the disciples, Peter and James and John and Andrew, came unto him privately, saying: Master, tell us, when shall these things be; and what is the sign, when all these things shall be about to be fulfilled; and what is the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age? (Matthew 24:3, Mark 13:3,4; Luke 21:7)

And Jesus answered, and said unto them: Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and The time draweth near; and they shall deceive many: go not ye, therefore, after them. (Matthew 24:4,5; Mark 13:5,6; Luke 21:8)

But when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars and commotions, be ye not troubled: for all these things must come to pass; but the end is not yet. (Matthew 24:6, Mark 13:7, Luke 11:9)

For nation shall rise up against nation; and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be great earthquakes in divers places, and famines, and pestilences, and troubles, and fearful sights; and great signs shall there be from heaven: all these are the beginning of sorrows (Matthew 24:7,8; Mark 13:8, Luke 11:10,11)

But take heed to yourselves: for then, before all these, the shall lay their hands on you and persecute you, and shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you, and shall deliver you up to councils and into prisons; and, in the synagogues, ye shall be beaten; and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my name’s sake for a testimony against them: and it shall turn you for a testimony (Matthew 24:9, Mark 13:9, Luke 21: 12,13)

Settle it, therefore, in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer. But, when the shall lead you and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but, whatsover shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye; it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist. And this Gospel of the kingdom shall first be preached in the whole habitable world for a witness unto all nations: and then shall the end come. (Matthew 24:14, Maark 13:10,11; Luke 21:14,15)

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And ye shallbe betrayed both by parents and brethren and kinsfolk and friends: and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. For the brother shall betray the brother to death; and the father, the son: and children shall rise up against there parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. (Matthew 24:9,10; Mark 13:12,13; Luke 21:16,17)

And many false prophets shall arise, and shall deceive many. And, because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But there shall not a hair of your head perish: but he, that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. In your patience possess ye your souls. (Matthew 24:11,12,13; Luke 21:18,19)

When therefore ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place where it ought not (let him that readeth understand); and when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies: then know, that the desolation thereof is nigh; then let them, which are in Judea, flee to the mountains; and let them, which are in the midst of it, depart out; and let not them, that are in the countries, enter thereinto; and let him, that is on the housetop, not come down to take any thing out of his house; and let him, that is in the field, not turn back again to take up his garment. (Matthew 24:15,16,17,18; Mark 14,15,16; Luke 21:20,21)

For these be the days of vengeance, that all things, which are written, may be fulfilled. (Luke 21:22)

But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days: for there shall be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. But pray ye, that your flight be not in the winter neither on the sabbath-day: for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:19,20,21; Mark 13:17,18,19, Luke 21:23)

And, except those days should be shortened of the Lord, there should no flesh be saved: but, for the sake of the elect whom he hath chosen, those days shall be shortened. (Matthew 24:22, Mark 13:20)

And then, if any man shall say unto you, Lo here is Christ, or Lo he is there; believe him not. For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect: but take ye heed; behold, I have foretold you all things. (Matthew 24:23,24,25; Mark 13:21,22,23)

Wherefore, if the shall say unto you, Behold he is in the desert; go not forth: Behold he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For, as the ligtning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For, wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. (Matthew 24:26,27,28; Compare Luke 17:23,24)

And wrath shall be upon this people: and they shall fall by the edge of the sword; and they shall be led away captive into all nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until THE TIMES OF THE GENTILES shall be fulfilled. (Luke 21:23,24)

But, in those days and immediately after the tribulation of those days, there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars. The sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And upon the earth shall be distress of nations with perlexity; the sea and the waves roaring, men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth. (Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:24,25; Luke 21:25,26)

Amd then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; andthen shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn. (Matthew 24:30, Mark 13:26, Luke 21:27)

And then shall he send his messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven, and from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:31, Mark 23:27)

And, when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads: for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:28)

Now learn a parable from the fig-tree and all the trees. When her branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves, and when they now shoot forth; ye see and know of your own selves, that summer is now night at hand. (Matthew 24:32, Mark 13:28, Luke 21:29,30)

So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things fulfilling, know that he is near even at the doors, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. (Matthew 24:32, Mark 13:28, Luke 21:31)

Verily I say unto you: This generation shall not pass away, until all things shall have been fulfilled. (Matthew 24:24, Mark 13:30, Luke 21:32)

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. (Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33)

But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but my Father only. Take ye heed: watch and pray; for ye know not, when the time is. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life; and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them, that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye, therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and that ye may stand before the Son of man. (Matthew 24:36, Mark 13:32,33; Luke 21:34,35,36)

But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For, as, in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and knew not, until the flood came and took them all away: so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:37,28,39)

Therefore be ye also ready: for, in such an hour as you think not, the Son of man cometh. (Matthew 24:44)
